Construction 101: Essentials for the Non-Construction Professional
The AGC of Wisconsin’s group of building experts will provide a high-level introduction to the construction industry, tailored to what non-construction professionals need to know. Attendees will leave the class with a basic understanding of the construction process, terminology, project team roles, and key elements of a building. This program is specifically designed for professionals with a non-construction background. This may include professionals in architecture/engineering, marketing, accounting, finance, HR, communications, IT, graphic design, office administration and/or secondary service providers.

Construction 201: Building an Understanding of the Industry

This one-day course will help the participant gain a better understanding of the industry and how ‘things work.’ This course has been designed as a follow up to and builds on the Construction 101 course, thus providing greater insight into Project Management and Superintendent fundamentals. Participants will learn how construction firms manage the construction process from set up to turn over and will gain a basic understanding on how projects are managed from the field. Key topics include document management & control, project management tools, material tracking, contracts, change orders, submittals, progress schedules, site utilization, subcontractor coordination, punch list, inspections, and safety management. Lunch is included for in person participants. Course will be available in-person at the AGC Training Room in Madison or Online.
