This quick-start approach to blueprint reading and estimating will provide participants with the basic understanding of construction drawings, in addition to exposing the fundamentals of construction estimating principles and applications. This workshop is scheduled in four half-day sessions will be offered in a hybrid format both in-person and online. Learning outcomes and topics to be addressed include:
*Please note this is a comprehensive course combining both blueprint reading and estimating. This course cannot be divided into two (2) separate registrations.
- Read various plans and detail notes
- Learn how to read a scale rule
- Understand the various views
- Understand what material schedules are and how to use them
- Learn basic math needed to do a successful takeoff
- Perform basic plan takeoff activities
- Create a basic estimate which includes labor and materials
- Cost/price analysis
- Discuss the difference between sq ft pricing and time and materials estimating
