Construction Supervision Fundamentals
​An Introductory Course for Foremen & All Future Construction Supervisors

Construction Supervision Fundamentals (CSF) is designed specifically to meet the needs of the learner, as well as the construction industry. Developed, updated, and field tested by contractors for contractors, this course focuses on the knowledge, skills and attitudes required for effective construction supervision. It is especially appropriate for those who are new supervisors or newly promoted foremen, or for anyone who seeks career advancement in leading and directing construction activities.

Instructor - Mark Rounds
​He has over 40 years of experience in the construction industry holding positions as laborer, superintendent, project engineer, estimator, senior project manager, and vice president. His project experience includes Healthcare, Education, Commercial, Retail, Water and Wastewater Treatment, Bridges and Heavy Construction. He has worked in several markets including Wisconsin, Illinois, Colorado, Arizona, Virginia, and the Carolinas. Mark is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Madison in Civil and Environmental Engineering and is a registered Professional Engineer in Wisconsin. He is an Assistant Professor at MSOE. He received the Daily Reporter’s Educator of the Year award in 2018 for his work teaching in the construction industry.

Mark is a great speaker and has such relevant experience.  He inspired me to keep learning and growing.  My promotion to assistant project manager will be official as of May 1st and I can’t wait to get started! "

Why CSF?
The CSF course is designed for aspiring front line leaders who are looking to learn the entry level management skills to lead construction activities.
Eligibility
This course is the first step in the path to develop construction supervisors. This interactive course allows the building trades and craft workers to experience construction supervision techniques first hand and create a professional development plan to achieve personal career goals.
About the Course
This highly interactive course presents basic information about the skills and knowledge needed for successful construction supervision.
The two-day course consists of nine sessions. Students who complete Sessions 1 through 9 receive a certificate of completion.

  • Session 3 - Communication Skills
  • Session 4 - Time Management and Project Scheduling
  • Session 5 - Risk Management
  • Session 6 - Construction Law and Contract Documents
  • Session 7 - Problem Resolution
  • Session 8 - Productivity and Cost Control
  • Session 9 - Skills Development
* CSF should not replace AGC's Supervisory Training Program (STP). STP should be taken after successful completion of CSF.
